Lori M. Teller, DVM, DABVP (canine/feline), CVJ

Education and Certification

Dr. Lori Teller is a graduate of the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (TAMU CVM) and is a board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in canine and feline practice.

Professional Experience

Dr. Teller has a rich history in veterinary medicine, having worked at Meyerland Animal Clinic from the age of 12 and continuing after her graduation from veterinary school. In 2018, she joined the faculty at TAMU CVM as a clinical professor of telehealth, where she focuses on internal medicine, particularly gastrointestinal diseases and autoimmune disorders. She is also passionate about using cytology as a diagnostic tool for lumps and bumps, as well as improving the quality of life for senior animals.

Research and Grants

Dedicated to her teaching role and the advancement of telemedicine in veterinary practice, Dr. Teller and her colleagues were awarded a grant from the USDA to investigate the role of telemedicine in veterinary education. Additionally, they received funding from the Petco Love Foundation for a program aimed at improving access to veterinary care for low-income, elderly pet owners in a rural Texas community.            Dr. Teller has authored numerous articles on veterinary telemedicine and primary care services.

Organized Veterinary Medicine Involvement

Dr. Teller is actively involved in organized veterinary medicine at local, state, and national levels. She is a past president of both the Harris County Veterinary Medical Association and the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA), where she has received the TVMA’s Recent Graduate of the Year Award in 1995 and the President’s Award in 2007, 2009, and 2016. Currently, she serves as a trustee for the TVMA’s Veterinary Political Action Committee, advocating for political causes important to veterinary medicine.

Leadership Roles

Dr. Teller was the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) president for the 2022-2023 association year and previously served on the AVMA Board of Directors as the District 8 representative, including a year as Board chair. She has also been active in the AVMA House of Delegates and on several committees, including chairing the State Advocacy Committee.

Community Engagement

Beyond her veterinary career, Dr. Teller was a founding board member and trustee of The Gateway Academy, a high school for students with learning differences and special needs in Houston. She has been recognized as an “Everyday Hero” by 740 KTRH for her volunteer work in child abuse prevention.

Media and Mentorship

Dr. Teller is featured monthly on Houston’s NPR radio station, where she discusses the importance of veterinary care for dogs and cats. She is a dedicated mentor to veterinary students, recent graduates, and young leaders, helping them navigate the complexities of the veterinary profession and life beyond work.

Personal Life

Dr. Teller is married to her high school sweetheart, Dr. Craig Teller, and they have one son and several pets. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercising, reading, and traveling extensively. She is also a fan of exploring new cultures, indulging in great wine and food, and has a sweet spot for chocolate chip cookies, corny jokes, and puppy breath.

Dr. Amanda Landis-Hanna holds a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University. With over 22 years of diverse experience, she has excelled in small animal, mixed animal, and exotic medicine.               Dr. Landis-Hanna has practiced in various capacities, including shelter medicine and relief medicine, and has worked in both private and corporate practices. Her background also includes research and industry roles, where she has developed innovative strategies to address challenges within the veterinary field.

Previous Roles

Before joining OHG, Dr. Landis-Hanna founded Landis-Hanna Consulting, providing continuing education, content production, and veterinary mentoring. She served as Vice President of Heal House Call Veterinarian, where she focused on enhancing access to veterinary care by addressing transportation and financial barriers. As the Senior Manager of Veterinary Outreach for PetSmart Charities, she managed a grant program supporting veterinary student training and faculty research grants across 30 major academic institutions in the U.S. and Canada. In this role, she acted as a senior advisor and spokesperson, collaborating with veterinary professionals, animal welfare organizations, and academic faculty to strategically target grant initiatives. Her research career began with i4C Innovations, the founder of Voyce, a wholly owned subsidiary of OHG.

Passions

Dr. Landis-Hanna is deeply passionate about improving access to veterinary care by reducing barriers within communities. She advocates for increased research and educational opportunities in veterinary medicine and prioritizes mental health within the animal care industry.

Board Appointments

Currently, Dr. Landis-Hanna serves as the Secretary of the Board of the Human-Animal Bond Association (HABA) and is an At-Large Board member of RedRover, an animal welfare nonprofit organization.

Dr. Joel Parker is a seasoned veterinarian and entrepreneur with decades of experience in the veterinary industry. He is the Founder, Director, and CEO of Parker Business Systems. Over the years, he has held numerous leadership roles, including Co-Founder and President of Veterinary Practice Solutions, Consultant at Measurable Solutions, Owner and Executive Director of Animal Medical Hospital, BC, ER Veterinarian at VCA Canada Vancouver Animal Emergency and Referral Centre, and Veterinarian at Richmond Animal Hospital, BC.

Early Life and Education

Born in Alaska and raised on the West Coast of Canada, Dr. Parker’s entrepreneurial spirit was evident from an early age. At 15, he started a landscaping business, marking the beginning of his business ventures. Driven by a passion for animals, he pursued veterinary medicine and earned degrees in Science and Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.

Veterinary Practice and Innovations

In 1986, Dr. Parker purchased the AAHA-accredited Animal Medical Hospital in West Vancouver, BC. Under his leadership, the practice gained recognition for its advanced facilities, including a soundproof dog ward featured in Trends Magazine. As a veterinary practice owner, Dr. Parker faced the challenges of owner-dependent management. Seeking a solution, he discovered the Hubbard Management System, which transformed the success of his practice and inspired him to share his knowledge with others.

Entrepreneurial Ventures

Dr. Parker’s success led to the creation of two additional ventures: Veterinary Endoscopy Service and Canine Equipment – Gear For Dogs, a company that manufactured and distributed high-end dog training equipment worldwide. In 2004, he co-founded Veterinary Practice Solutions, aiming to help veterinary practice owners implement the Hubbard Management System to elevate their businesses. He refers to this transformative experience as the creation of the “Standing Ovation Practice.”
